Professional Bio Carolyn Hunt Carolyn Hunt, the owner of Purpose Methods Results Communications, has over 20 years of experience as a writer and publications manager in the medical device industry. Earlier in her career, she worked in daily and monthly newspapers and as a political press consultant. Carolyn's experience includes building a technical publications department from the ground up for a major medical laser manufacturer. This department was responsible for writing and designing all new operator's manuals, service manuals, and physician education and training manuals and materials. Carolyn's most recent venture, and the one that gave impetus to the formation of Purpose Methods Results, began after a scientist asked her for help with a manuscript. Suspecting that there was a greater need for this function, she proposed and, for the second time, built an all new area in the company. This new function was dedicated to the publication of research and the development of scientists as authors and presenters. As a result, more peer reviewed articles were published in the first two years of the position being established than had been published in the history of the company. Following the acquisition of the company by a larger entity, her compact systems of operation made it possible for her to expand this service to five additional business units without adding to headcount. Carolyn has extensive experience writing and publishing in the broad variety of styles required by industry. Before entering the research arena, she worked in a marketing publications department for ten years where she won writing awards for her work in newsletters, feature articles, and white papers. Carolyn honed and polished her writing skills while earning a Bachelor's degree in English at San Jose State University. She graduated with honors and also completed additional upper division coursework in the sciences to support her career choice. She has also completed graduate work in English and mass communications programs. Carolyn is certified by the Board of Editors in the Life Sciences and the American Medical Writers' Association. In her spare time, Carolyn is a proud crew member of the tall ship Pilgrim out of Dana Point, California. |
